Honeywell HandKey II

Honeywell - HG4II - Handkey Ii Standalone Unit

Manufactured by Schlage Biometric Solutions, the Honeywell Handkey captures a 3D image of your hand and takes note of more than 90 measurements, including the thickness, the width, the surface area, and the length of individual fingers and the entire hand.

This template is stored in a database and will be used to compare subsequent templates in order to provide access control. It does not matter if your hands are clean, dirty, or if you have injuries; as long as you are authorized to enter the premises, you can.

The Honeywell HandKey II works with other access control systems, which make it an ideal choice if you want to add biometrics to your existing systems.  It sells on Amazon.

What you would love about it

If you are using two or more Handkeys, you do not have to get people to scan their hands at every unit.  These Handkeys could be linked together using an Ethernet cable or Rs-485.

The embedded management system in each unit will be able to share the templates with one another, and thus you only need to enroll once even if you use two or more readers. It also supports 26-bit Wiegand as well as other data formats.

The Handkey II is also very flexible and will work with your existing system. It also has a tamper switch that will sound an alarm. An alarm will also sound when the unit is under duress, or if verification fails.

Why it’s on the list

Honeywell is a trust technology company that also deals with access control systems. You can use the Honeywell Handkey II with other security technologies from the same company, including keypads and barcode sliders.

You can also apply several emergency protocols, which help protect you from break-ins, carbon monoxide, and fire. It also works with the company’s WIN-PAK interface.

The Handkey II is a reliable hand and fingerprint scanner that gives your access control systems a biometric touch, thereby ensuring that even if a would-be intruder gets hold of an employee’s ID or key fob, he or she will still be kept out by the Handkey II.

Realand Biometric Fingerprint Attendance Machine and ID Card Reader

Realand TFT LCD Display Biometric Fingerprint Attendance Machine ID Card Reader TCP/IP Function USB...

The Realand Biometric Fingerprint Attendance Machine and ID Card Reader requires you to press your thumb on the scanner in order to enroll you as an authorized user.

After that, it will open the door for you within eight seconds, instantly logging your attendance as well as the times you go out of the door within the day.

The Realand Biometric Fingerprint Attendance Machine and ID Card Reader features a 2.8-inch LCD color display and a USB port so that you can easily download information. It is made of ABS plastic, one of the strongest plastic materials in the market today.

It has an energy-saving fingerprint sensor and can hold up to 100,000 records. It can work with your current timekeeping software.  It is also very accurate, having a 0.0001% FAR accuracy.

What you would love about it

If you only want to add an access control device at the door, the Realand Biometric machine is worth the consideration. Not only does it let unauthorized personnel out, but can also help reduce administrative tasks related to timekeeping and employee attendance.

The package already has everything you need, from the mounting bracket to the mounting screws and even the expansion tube.  And you do not have to pay too much for it all. It is available (check this listing for the latest live prices) on Amazon.

Why it’s on this list

The Realand Biometric Fingerprint Attendance Machine and ID Card Reader presents a cheaper alternative and still delivers enterprise-grade security for your business.  If you do not want to bother with full-on security systems to come with your access control, then this is a good one to consider.

Stanley Eyelock Nano NXT

Stanley Eyelock nano NXT

Stanley Eyelock nano NXT will scan your iris and identify at least 240 unique characteristics to create a unique code that will help identify your employees.

This code is then encrypted and stored on the device or on the server. When somebody looks into the nano NXT, its algorithm will then check if the person’s eye matches any encrypted iris records before it opens the door.

The nano NXT promises to keep the wrong people out.  The company guarantees that the false accept rate will be very minimal, and claims that the nano NXT only gets one in every 1.5 million irises scanned wrong.

Even so, you can add in two-factor authentication, by simply adding a third-party card reader.  The nano NXT uses bank-grade encryption and can be integrated with other access control platforms.

Even then, configuring the nano NXT is very easy and you can use your browser in doing it. You can also use your nano NXT with your current access control and attendance systems.

There is also software development kits available in the following programming languages: C# (.NET), C / C++, and Java so that you could customize your nano NXT to work with your current applications. Also, because this comes from Stanley, you can easily integrate it with other Stanley products.

What you would love about it

Access control is fast with nano NXT promising to authenticate up to 20 people every minute if needed. It is also very accurate, and you do not even have to stand close to it. It can also reliably authenticate people even when they just move past it instead of standing in front of the device.

It is UL-294-certified, which means that it has been thoroughly tested to work reliably, is secure, can withstand attacks or attempts to destroy it, has standby power, and has high material endurance. It is also compliant with the access control standards of Canada, the European Union, and the US FCC.

Lastly, you can use it with other security products from Stanley, including fire alarms and intrusion detection system, among others. Stanley also offers managed access control services, as well as managed security services, so that you do not have to worry about your office security.

Why it’s included in this list

Stanley is a trusted security products company that has been in operation for more than 170 years. Its Stanley security division has a wide array of security products, software, and services that have helped keep companies and homes safe and secure for years.

But more than coming from a reputable security products company, the nano NXT is a sleek piece of hardware that delivers on its promises. It performs very well: it is fast, accurate, and flexible.

Iris scanning is also much more secure than fingerprint-based security. It is also one of the very few biometric systems that use iris recognition rather than fingerprints.

Ardwolf A20 Security Biometric Fingerprint Door Lock

Ardwolf A20 Security High-Sensitivity High-Recognition Rate Keyless Biometric Fingerprint Door Lock,...

If you are looking for a pure and simple biometric access control device without other features you do not need, then you should get the Ardwolf A20 Security Biometric Fingerprint Door Lock.

This is also a great option if you are currently building an office as it functions more as a keyless door lock with fingerprint recognition.

As a door lock, you have three options on how to unlock it: you can use the fingerprint recognition, you can use a physical key, or you can use a pass code. It can store up to 100 fingerprints.

If you are using the pass code, you will love the fact that you can add random numbers to help mask your real password from anybody trying to guess your pass code based on the fingerprint smudges on the keypad.

And for instance, if you are expecting a lot of visitors, you can turn on the passage mode that will disable the locking mechanisms and visitors can just go in without you having to let them in. They only need to press the door handle and open the door.

It also has records and logs of who unlocked your door, helping you keep track of your employees’ movements.

Why it is on this list

This is perfect for homes and small offices and can replace your current door locks. At its price (check this listing for the latest live prices), it is one of the more affordable access control devices out there.

KKmoon Biometric Fingerprint Access Control System

The KKmoon Biometric Fingerprint Access Control System is another fingerprint access control device that also offers attendance monitoring and can store up to 3,000 fingerprint templates.  Everything you need to install it is already included in the package.

Why it is included in this list

The KKmoon Biometric Fingerprint Access Control System shows that you can get a biometric access control device without having to spend a lot of money. You can get this (check this listing for the latest live prices) on Amazon.
